Welcome

The site has a minor update. On the “local site” link there is a link to a map of the meeting location.

The Binrev Staff welcomes you to the main headquaters for all Binrevmeetings. All important info will be posted here as far as general info, major upcoming events, and new sites. Many of you may be wondering how you would get started in creating your own Binrevmeetings in your local district. Here is an outline of When, Where , Why and How to get started.

When : Generally, the meetings are held on the third Friday of every month. This is not set in stone, and may vary from meeting to meeting. However, try to keep to this schedule if most persons schedule is conflicting with this please feel free to alter your date and time. Please be sure to have a designated (i.e. willing, trustworthy) person to update your areas website to reflect any changes. One reason for a standard date is so that we may also interact with other meetings. We may do presentations over the phone, or Q/A sessions with other meetings and other members of the hacker community. This is easier when we are all meeting on the same day.

Where : Meetings are held where ever the “LOCAL AREA” decides. Most meetings are held at a local Mall Food Court because of convienence to food, tables, and other people. Our meetings should be open to the public, so welcome all to look and listen. On the local website (which I will explain how to recieve later in this FAQ) you should place specific directions on how to find the binrev meetings. You can use Google Maps or any other map application you are familiar with.

Why : The meetings are whatever you make it. One of the things that sets us apart from other meetings is that we do have several ideas for activities and projects that we hope people will find interesting and get involved in. We want people to work together and actually produce something of value to the hacker community. It could be as simple as writing and article, or it could be writing a piece of software. It could be researching a topic for an informal presentation, or it could be putting together a formal presentation for an upcoming conference.

How : Now you can recieve an areacode.binrevmeetings.com site free of charge with the following requirements.

I) You must organize a meeting in your area and have a decent group in attendance. The site must be update regularly.

II) You must send email requesting a website with the follwoing:
a) The administrator of the sites hacker name.
b) The area code and city and state you are in.
c) If you are not in the USA you are absolutly welcome to have a site just send your info from above as well as the COUNTRY you live in.
